Today we are happy to shed a spotlight on a truly trusted member of the BenBau Team, Andreea, who has worked with us for three years now, first in Denmark and now in Sweden. To celebrate her achievements, we asked her five quick questions!
1. Where are you from and what did you study at University?
I am originally from Darabani, a small town in northern Romania near the border with Moldova. I relocated to Iași to pursue my studies at the University of Veterinary Medicine, where I earned my degree in Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, I practised as a veterinary doctor in Iași for four years, working alongside a dedicated and collaborative team.
2. What do you like about working at BenBau?
I transitioned from a career in Veterinary Medicine to the HSE field and chose to continue developing within this department because I genuinely grew to value and enjoy this profession. Over time, it became more than a career change — it became a clear professional direction for me.
While working on my first project site in Denmark, we succeeded in building a strong and supportive team environment. We worked professionally, supported one another, and collaborated effectively regardless of the challenges we faced, ensuring that the workplace remained both safe and productive. I continued this approach after moving to the sites in Sweden, where I began coordinating HSE Officers across multiple projects.
3. What have been some of the biggest challenges you have faced on the job?
One of the biggest challenges I have faced in the role has been ensuring consistent safety standards across different sites, especially when teams come from diverse backgrounds and have different working habits.
Another challenge has been maintaining a proactive safety culture in high-pressure situations, where deadlines and operational demands can sometimes compete with safety priorities. In those moments, it is essential to stay firm, communicate risks clearly, and support teams in finding safe and practical solutions.
4. How do you think your role will change in the future?
I see my role developing beyond day-to-day site supervision toward a broader leadership and strategic function within the HSE department.
My professional objective is to progress into an HSE Manager position, where I can contribute at a higher organisational level, oversee multiple projects, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen both safety performance and operational excellence.
5. Tell me an unusual fact about yourself?
I worked as a vet for several years before switching to the HSE field, which is quite an unexpected change. But I genuinely fell in love with this job, and now I can’t imagine doing anything else.
