With spring finally here, the atmosphere at BenBau is one of new, fresh opportunities. While we can’t share everything with you yet, expect to hear big announcements in the upcoming months. In the meanwhile, we mark the transition from winter to spring with seasonal rituals, new awards and exciting community and charity initiatives. Check it out today!
BenBau Safety Recognition
At BenBau, we are always happy to reward the members of our team that have gone above and beyond to ensure a safe working environment on our sites. That’s why we gave two awards recently to our workers Ion and Daniel-Ion for their tireless, proactive work in creating a true safety culture on our Swedish projects. Congratulations to both team members! There were also internal awards for Daniel and Darius on top of their external accomplishments.
AI Boom Or Bubble?
This was the question on everyone’s minds at Kickstart Europe Conference last month in Amsterdam.
As a company at the forefront of the data centre industry, this is a topic that is particularly interesting for us here at BenBau, so we went out and asked thought leaders their opinions about the current demand for construction, what might happen in the future, and how the construction industry could be affected.
Green Contractor of the Month – February!
BenBau are happy to announce that we were awarded Green Contractor of the Month by one of our contractors for our work on one of our sites in Sweden in February. This is a huge achievement for the team as it solidifies the ways that we always work with sustainability and the future in mind.
The construction industry always comes with environmental factors, but our dedicated team are always on the lookout to minimise our impact on the wider world. This award is testament to our hard work and constant striving for better processes. Congratulations to the entire team!
Women in Construction
To mark Women in Construction Week, we hosted an event exploring the roles women play in the construction industry and to celebrate the women who make BenBau great.
The statistics show that in the EU, women comprise only 13-14% of the workforce, mostly concentrated in HR and admin roles. In Sweden, where our presentation took place, these numbers are reduced to a mere 10-12%. This means that there is still much more work to do to achieve truly equitable outcomes.
But the benefits of gender diversity is clear, leading to improved financial performance, attractiveness to new talent, a broader talent pool and long-term sustainability — as well as a stronger safety culture. This shows the importance of presentations such as these to outline the various barriers women have to work and to find concrete solutions to addressing them.
Supporting Safe Passage
During his travels in Asia, Barney Mathews connected with Aman Lara, who provides safe passage and protection for people in Afghanistan, as well as in Ukraine. He was particularly moved by the plight of an LGBTQ+ couple fleeing the Taliban, and pledged a significant donation to help them find a safe home in Canada. This was an enormous undertaking, requiring discreet planning and coordination, but in the end, it was a success, demonstrating how important this type of support is in helping women live their authentic lives.
Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day
As one of the key Irish companies in the city of Berlin, we were invited to embassy events on the 20th March. We also marked the day itself with festivity in the office. It’s important to always acknowledge our Irish roots as a company, even though we operate internationally, and St Patrick’s Day offered the perfect opportunity to achieve that!
