Why Strategy Matters at BenBau
At BenBau, strategy is not just a top-down directive — it’s a foundational element that enables us to build safely, work efficiently, and deliver quality across all our projects. As a company rooted in concrete works, structural and civil engineering, we recognise the value of a strong plan, properly reinforced by alignment across teams. Every department at BenBau, from Safety to Quality to Design, has shaped its own plans for the year, but as Nora Christians (Corporate Development Executive) put it: “It’s the alignment piece that allows us to achieve our shared goals of safety, quality, speed, innovation, and sustainability.”

A Day of Conversations and Concrete Ideas
The day’s agenda was carefully structured to balance department presentations and strategic discussions with interactive team-building activities. These included hands-on exercises and brainstorming activities aimed at sparking new ideas and solving challenges from across the business.

Everyone had the chance to speak, listen, and contribute. Many team members highlighted the value of simply being in the same room — a rare occasion in a company that operates across borders and multiple projects simultaneously. “People have different ways of approaching problems. Getting everyone together in one room
strengthens collaboration and brings new insights to light,” shared Aisling Mathews (Director of Commerical and Technology).

For many, this in-person connection — between operational teams, centralised functions, and leadership — was the most important takeaway. It reaffirmed the value of teamwork and the importance of shared understanding in a growing international business like ours.

Following the Summit, we asked the team for feedback. The results reflected a strong sense of satisfaction and alignment with the event’s purpose. Everyone agreed that it was worthwhile time away from office and site operations. Many team members cited cross-departmental connection, two-way communication and practical collaboration as their most valuable takeaways. There is a strong desire to make this a regular part of our company calendar, and a follow-up session has already been planned.

Looking Ahead: Built on Alignment
As we continue to expand our services and geographic scope, alignment across departments has become even more critical. Whether it’s improving safety systems or refining our internal processes, success depends on moving in the same direction. The Strategy Summit reminded us that strategy is about setting the right foundations so that everyone across the company knows what we’re building towards and how their work supports that structure.
