With the summer season winding down, it’s a good time to reflect on what we have achieved so far, and how we are positioning ourselves for the rest of the year. August has seen considerable progress, with new projects already winning multiple awards, specific examples of what we do, personal achievements for our founder Barney and a spotlight on one of our new employees. Slump Testing Demonstration
What is a slump test?
A slump test measures the consistency, fluidity and workability of fresh concrete before it is placed. Every batch delivered to site gets checked against the approved specification before a single pour begins.
Here you can see Madalina carrying out that check on site. If the mix does not meet spec, it does not go in the ground.
Quality Contractor of the Month in Denmark
BenBau has been named Contractor of the Month on a new project in Denmark, taking home the first Quality Award presented on site. The award is scored across multiple quality criteria. We came in at 95%
Quality Contractor of the Month in Sweden
The team on site in Sweden picked up the Quality Contractor of the Month award for July, recognised by the client for consistent standards across the programme. Solid work from a solid crew.
Team Spotlight: IT Manager
Harold joined BenBau as IT Manager and has moved quickly. Digital asset management is in place, software integration has been upgraded and security systems updated. He is also leading the push toward ISO 27001 certification (the leading international standard for information security).
His background is not the usual route into Construction IT and Cybersecurity. Filmmaking, artificial intelligence and, outside the office, directing the Berlin Sci-Fi Film Festival.

Subcontractor of the Month in Denmark
The team on one of our Danish sites, which broke ground earlier this year, have been awarded Subcontractor of the Month by the general contractor.
Barney Completes the ADAC Cyclassics Hamburg
Managing Director and BenBau owner Barney Mathews recently competed in the ADAC Cyclassics Hamburg, completing an impressive 107km in just over three hours. This is one of the most famous cycling races in Germany, now celebrating its 30th year, and stretches from Buxtehude in Lower Saxony before ending up in the Hanseatic city.
